Sightings

Over the last few days I've had some interesting nature sightings.  Saturday morning, while walking Phoebe I looked up and was surprised to see an adult bald eagle soaring majestically overhead.  It was looping slowly back and forth, low enough to make out the white head and tail clearly.
Driving home this afternoon and small flock of ducks, probably mallards, flew over Bay City Road.  I'm not sure where they were coming from or where they were headed.
While visiting with a neighbor this afternoon I watched one of the local Coopers Hawks glide by.  We see them regularly in our neighborhood.
After attending a very interesting program on animal skull identification at CNC I saw an opossum wandering around near the entrance to the center.  I assume the warm temps drew it out in the middle of the day.
On top of all that, the bird song is picking up.  Cardinals and house finches are adding their songs to the chickadees whistled notes.  After  a long hard winter it's great to see signs of life at last.
