Projects - the end times

I started the season with a list of projects for my new sunny space, and I have completed all but one.  The new bed/s are planted with native flowers.  The two original beds have been joined into one long bed - all the easier to mow.  I planted a red bud tree and a service berry.  The pumpkin and gourd boxes are planted and doing well.  I installed a small raised bed at the back of the site to accommodate the small slope there; it is planted with native grasses, flowers and herbs.  I install and 8' by 8' trellis to support the Virgins' Bower on the back wall.  I replaced the Shepard's hooks holding the bird feeders with a wooden post complete with hooks.  I placed small pavers around the base to facilitate mowing.  Over 30 basil plants are coming along nicely in the vacant lot next door.  The concrete birdbath and statue have been relocated in the sunny yard.  The final project is the most ambitious - installing steps from the front porch down to the sunny yard.  This will entail modifying the porch rail, installing a small paver pad for the steps to sit on and mounting the stair stringer and treads.  The motivation for this final project is quick access to the lawn.  As it is now, I have to walk out the back door, out the drive way and along the road.  While it is a very short walk, it is not comfy on bare feet.  Yes, all this work so I can comfortably walk out into my lawn barefooted.  As a kid my feet were callused enough to walk over broken glass.  Not any longer.  Now, ever small pebbles set me hopping and skipping.  The weather this week should be in my favor and I would love to have it done before my four day weekend begins on Friday.  Wish me happy hammering.
